Additional Information

Things To Know About Our Adoption Process

  • We will not discuss adoption details regarding any particular bulldog if you have not yet applied to adopt.
  • ABBR is a 100% volunteer non-profit organization. We’ will make every effort to schedule your home visit in a timely manner. Please be patient with us…bulldogs need our time too.
  • All household members must be present during home visits…this includes all pets, boyfriends, girlfriends, spouses, children, roommates, mistresses, multiple personalities and imaginary friends.
  • All bulldogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on all shots prior to adoption
  • Adoption fees range from $350 to $650, based on the age and health of each individual bulldog

Things To Know About Our Rescue

  • Our organization, on average, spends three to six times the adoption fee on each bulldogs medical care.
  • If you are looking to save money by working with a rescue vs. purchasing a bulldog, rescue is probably not for you. We want our adopters to be people like us…people who put their bulldog above all else.
  • If you adopt a bulldog from rescue, you too are rescuing and giving that bulldog a new leash on life. Expect there to be behavioral, emotional, social and physical issues. We will disclose everything we are aware of prior to adoption, but it will ultimately be up to you to continue that bulldog’s rehabilitation.
  • The cutest bulldog, the one who is the color and size you like, may not be the right bulldog for you.
  • We match bulldogs to people and people to bulldogs. Trust the process…you won’t be disappointed.

Things To Know About Bulldogs

  • Bulldogs are expensive, in every regard. They are the definition of “High Maintenance.”
  • Bulldogs are indoor dogs and cannot be kept outside or let outside unattended. Google “Brachycephalic”
  • Bulldogs prefer to sleep on your couch. If you do not want them on your couch, do not leave them alone in your home, because you will find them on your couch when you return. Consider it free house sitting.
  • Bulldogs fart, snore and belch. Many of us find these traits adorabull…you will too…eventually.
  • Bulldogs require premium grain-free dog food. ABBR will specify what food works best for each bulldog.
  • Bulldogs require daily cleaning of their nose-fold, wrinkles, tail-pockets and ears. Weekly bathing too.
  • Please do your research and learn everything there is to know about bulldogs before applying to adopt.
